The weekend comes early

The week ends early for Carson and me as we leave tomorrow morning for Orlando. It's a nice early end to the week with it being finals week for Carson. However, it's a short break for Carson becuase we're traveling to Orlando with Carson's graphic class for a conference at Disney. It will be a vacation for me though and I am excited about getting to spend a lot of time with my family.

Carson came to visit me and Jackson on his lunch break today. He is so cute holding such a little baby. Jackson was kind enough to spit up on him and I wish I had a picture of Carson's face. He was very cautious after that. We took a nice walk though and it was a nice addition to my day! My mom used to always sing "Favorite Things" from The Sound of Music and so I have been singing that to Jackson. It has soon become his favorite! He was fussing today and Carson was trying to calm him down and I told Carson to sing to him. He started singing ABC's but was unsuccessful (at calming him down, not singing :-) so I told him to sing Favorite Things. Jackson quickly stopped fussing and looked intently at Carson. I'm so happy to pass along a favorite. I don't know what I'll do without this little one for over a week! He is going get so big!

Some of my school friends came over for a visit tonight before they head home for the summer. One thing led to another and we ended up cooking crepes. (They had read my previous post about the banana crepes) Sallie Anna was very excited to learn how to make them so while she took over, I snapped a picture. Look at those sweet cooking skills!

Pictures!

I finally have pictures of little Jackson that I nanny for! He's so precious and as hard as it is to get up early every morning it's worth getting to see this face when I get here:
We're trying to get him to spend time on his tummy but he's not quite sure that he likes it yet.
The little one is waking up now so time to go! Enjoy the pics.

Another Week

Another week has passed. I'm finally getting into a routine for my week now that I have been working for 2 weeks. I love the little child that I'm watching. He is so precious. This past Monday when I hadn't seen him for 2 days, he felt so much bigger! I think he's going through a growth spurt because he seems to always be hungry!

So far this weekend has been pretty busy just getting projects done and out of the way. We did have a nice breakfast this morning. I made some crepes which we haven't had in a long time. This was one of the first things my Grammy ever taught me to make and I have been making them ever sense. Carson's eyes always light up when I talk about making them so he was very happy this morning. I also tried a little experiement and put half of a banana in the batter. They turned out WONDERFULLY.. and I don't even care for bananas very much. As for the rest of the day, Carson had another photography gig today while I did some grocery shopping. Our couples bible study is having a Mexican potluck this week so I got lots of yummy Mexican food at the store. Luckly, Aldi has a large selection of Mexican ingredients so I didn't break our budget! I'll try to snap a picture of our group to post next week.

Tomorrow we're off to Greenville to do some shopping for things for the house. It feels like such an outing to plan to go to Greenville, when it's no further than most of the places I used to travel all over Orlando. It's just a different culure here and it's pretty contageous. . . which is nice because it saves on the gas money.

So nothing to exciting to report, just updating.

Big Weekend Plans

Just kidding. My weekend consists of laundry, grocery shopping and cleaning. Sounds exciting huh? As much as I used to hate staying home every day, I enjoy it now when I'm away from the house all week. It makes me appreciate the time that I have to care for my home and spend time with my hubby. Carson is off doing a photography gig today while I am off to do some shopping, but we'll have tomorrow to spend together.

I worked a 13 hour day yesterday taking care of Jackson while his mom took a group to Charleston for a college tour. He was in a very good mood all day long which was great for such a long day. I came home ready to crash until I saw that one of our nearby grocery stores was tripling coupons. I found a second burst of energy when I saw how much I could save. Poor hubby came home after a long day as well to find me surrounded by coupons and asking him accompany me to the store. Some of the products we were looking for were already sold out but we were able to save 70% on what we bought. It was amazing to watching the savings surpass the total when they started ringing up coupons! We got all you see below for $10.44. It's not a big bunch of stuff, but it's all high value brand name stuff. The olive oil and Breyers Ice Cream alone would have cost me $10 even at Walmart. I normally don't shop at Bloom because it's pretty expensive, but it was well worth this trip.

I've got all my coupons ready to go for today's trip. It probably won't turn out as well as last night but every little bit helps!

Happy Weekend!

An update on our lives

Sorry for the dry spell of post, but here's an update on what we've been up to.

First off we went back to Orlando for Spring Break and got to spend some wonderful time with our families and friends. We were having so much fun we forgot to take pictures of most of it. This is my family at DeLeon Springs where we went for breakfast. This is also the place where we took our engagement photos. My dad has all the pictures of me and Carson together so this is all we have.

We also traveled to Charleston so that Carson could run a 10k race there. Carson did an awesome job and beat his personal record. I don't like running or crowds (there were 40,000 people that participated) so I opted out and spent some time with the friends that we were staying with. Once the race started he got lost in the mass of people but I was able to snap a picture before he took off. We also had a wonderful weekend doing some sightseeing around Charleston. It was my first trip there.

This is a before and after shot on race day

Not that you can tell, but this at a park right on the shore in downtown Charleston

This is the Cooper River Bridge that Carson ran his 10k run over.

This is the Angel Oak. It was a pretty magnificent tree!

Our friends had a great view of the birds in their back yard so Jan and I spent time visiting and watching the birds while Carson photographed them. (This is for you mom)

I'm finally out of the house during the week. I am a nanny for a precious little 2 month old baby. We have lots of fun playing together every day. It's nice having somewhere to be and a schedule to keep. I find that I get more things done at home as well now that I'm on more of a schedule. It used to be that I had an unlimited amount of time to get things done. I work better when I have a set amount of time to get things done. It also makes me appreciate the time I get to spend with Carson in the mornings and evenings.

This year we had a unique and special Easter lunch. We went over to some friend's house, the Wylie's, and had a potluck dinner with some other couples from their church. None of us were set on a traditional Easter lunch so we opted for a Mexican dinner. It was delicious (Mexican is one of my favorites) and it was great company. The guys started up a competition on the Wii while the girls chatted.
Our first Easter picture as a married couple

The whole group: The couple that we are standing next two are the Wylies that hosted the party and have been our friends for a while. The other two couples are our new friends!
