Boys

I mentioned in this post that Miles was one of the only boys his age in our group of friends here in Clemson. All the brand new babies are girls too! He sure is surrounded by girls.

At first I was a little pensive about having a boy. I guess I figured I wouldn't know what to do with a boy. They like to play in the dirt, give their mom's heart attacks with all of the crazy things they do, and then they find another woman and leave. The relationship with a son is so different than one with a daughter, and I only know about the daughter relationship.

God really spoke to my heart last week and showed me how special it was to have a boy. He wanted me to have a boy. So I don't have to worry about all the dirt and broken bones. God wanted me (and Carson) to raise this sweet little boy. And what an important task that is. God has given us a lot of responsibility. Boys grow up to be men, leaders, husbands.

I know I'm not perfect and I don't take this responsibility lightly. Only with God leading can I "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it (Prov. 22:6)". We have been praying since before Miles was born that he would grow up to be a strong man. We have been praying for his salvation! We have been praying for the woman that God has planned for him to meet however many years down the road. I sincerely mean these prayers but I know they will all take on new meaning as he continues to grow.
I feel blessed that God chose to give me Miles. It is His perfect plan that I have a boy.
