What a Sunday

So today was a very special Sunday because Carson got baptized!
Our pastor is very passionate that we 1. know for a fact that we know Jesus Christ as our personal savior and 2. that we follow our commitment to Him in baptism. Carson realized that when he was baptized as a young child he didn't really understand what he was doing or what accepting Christ into his heart really meant and that it wasn't until later that he truly accepted Christ with and understanding of what he was doing. So tonight he followed through and made public his dedication to our Lord. It's so wonderful to have a husband that listens to God and follows His commandments.

An Early Saturday

Beep Beep Beep... went our alarm this morning at 7am. Why, you ask, would we possibly be getting up that early on a Saturday? Well let me back track to Tuesday when I received an email from our local Food Lion that it was closing, and that the sales started the next day. So when I went on Wednesday everything in the store was 30% off. Not that great of a deal since I'm into sales and couponing and can normally get a better deal. So when I was checking out with my small purchase the cashier told me that on Saturday they were marking everything down to 60% off! Ok, that's more my style! And hubby was fully on board. He even suggested going on Friday night to see if there was anything left and stake out what we wanted.

So this morning, despite the early hour and the below freezing temperatures, we popped out of bed to go score some deals. When we arrived 10 minutes before the store opened, (there wasn't even time for coffee!!) there was already a line of 50 people or so. We had a game plan and everything. We each got a cart and split up. It was so much fun to have hubby there with me. Good thing we both enjoy saving money so we had a fun time together. We were even out of the store in 30 minutes! Are you anxious to see what we got?

First let me give you the amazing figures on this. We spent almost an entire month's grocery budget on this but as a result we will have lower grocery bills for the next few months!

Total before discounts and coupons:$ 299.06
Total out of pocket: $120.06 (A 67% Savings)

Oh so fun saving money!

Married Life!

Well here we are - all moved in! More sneak peaks of inside the apartment to come soon (when there is not laundry to still be put away :-) Hubby and I have had so much fun making our home together. Although it was not all fun, for example, carrying his new, pretty large desk up stairs. (Help! Dad you left too early) I love that men are the stronger ones, but sometimes there just are not enough around!

So we are one month into our marriage. . . and it's wonderful. It's awesome having hubby come home from work every day - and of course I have a nice meal waiting for him - well not always but I love to cook so he can count on it most of the time.

I can't believe how much has happened in the past month. We shared the most special day on our wedding day, went to the Bahamas and back on cruise, moved WAY too much stuff up to our new home, have unpacked more boxes than I ever want to see again, had our first house guest, and already had a car break down. The car breaking down has been fun because that means Carson and I both get to get up for his 8am classes so I can take him to school. Lets just say he's way more of a morning person than I am.

So tonight hubby is taking me out on a date to celebrate Valentines Day a little late and our one month anniversary. It's a pretty special Wednesday.
